I am Mrugesh Thakor, A Brooklyn based Indian American Filmmaker. I am currently pursuing a BFA in film at Pratt Institute, Brooklyn. I am interested in telling stories about the oneness of the world with a special focus on promoting South Asian representation in film.
Currently, I am starting the festival circuit for my film Color of God, that I wrote, directed, co-produced, and edited for the last 10 months. This film was shot across locations in India and USA, and brought together two units of wonderful artists in both countries. Before Color of God, I directed some less elaborate narrative and documentary shorts, commercials, and a music video.
For summer 2024 I was selected as a scholar of the Gotham Film and Media Career Development Program. I am also a film production and distribution intern at First Run Features
At Pratt, I am a video producer for Pratt Sidelights+ and a film studio monitor & mentor for Pratt film/video. I am also a video editor at Vinyl Footnote Productions. In the past, I was a film production intern for Midnight Media & Misha Calvert.
My films have been recognized at the Indian Independent Film Festival, the New York Odessey Film Festival, and the New York Lift-Off Film Festival.
